> Wax Trax!

Best remembered today as a revolutionary record label, Wax Trax! the label sprung from a local record store. Jim Nash & Dannie Flesher first opened Wax Trax! in Denver, CO in the late 70s, before selling the Denver shop and re-opening in a then-affordable section of North Lincoln Ave. in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood a couple years later. While the label's groudbreaking reputation grew and grew, Wax Trax! the store remained a fixture in Lincoln Park for years to come, surviving years of more affluent neighborhood demographic changes before a short-lived move to then-edgier, then-affordable Wicker Park in the early 90s. The label’s legacy speaks for itself, but the local store’s reputation as a haven for misfit music fans in the 80s and early 90s is unforgettable, too!
